Operating Principle

Relief valves are typically normally closed and installed in parallel at the hydraulic pump outlet. When system pressure is below the set value, the valve port remains closed; when pressure reaches the spring set value, the spool opens, allowing partial oil flow back to the tank, limiting further pressure increase. The balance between pressure and spring force maintains system pressure near the set value.
