The Function of a Valve Cylinder

Valve cylinders serve primarily for reversing and/or throttling functions. They are designed to be compact, easy to use, and efficient in reducing pipe distribution, installation hours, and saving space. However, one disadvantage is that electromagnetic reversing valves cannot be centrally installed together, which can complicate management.

Depending on the type of valve, there are various combinations:

  • One-Way Throttle Valves: Such as the CZ1 and CJ2Z series.
  • Electromagnetic Reversing Valves: Like the CVJ3 and CVJ5 series.
  • Electromagnetic Reversing Valves with Exhaust Throttle Valves: As seen in the CV3 series.
  • Electromagnetic Reversing Valves with One-Way Throttle Valves: Like the CVS1 series.
  • Electromagnetic Reversing Valves, Exhaust Throttle Valves, and Quick Change Joints: Found in the CVM3 and CVM5 series.

Types of Electronic Control Valve Cylinders:

  1. Single Electronic Control Valve Cylinder: This type has no memory effect. When the electrical signal is cut off, the reversing valve resets, and the cylinder reverses accordingly.
  2. Dual Electronic Control Valve Cylinder: This type has a memory effect. Even when the electrical signal is cut off, the valve position remains unchanged, and the piston rod of the cylinder also remains in the same position, thus preventing any effect from a sudden power failure.

Valve Cylinder Principle

A valve cylinder is a combined pneumatic actuator that integrates a cylinder, a reversing valve, and a speed control valve. This configuration eliminates the need for connecting pipes and pipe joints, thereby reducing energy loss. It boasts advantages such as a compact structure and easy installation.

Various control methods can be employed for the valve with the valve cylinder, including:

  • Electronic control
  • Gas control
  • Mechanical control
  • Manual control

The installation of the valve can vary, and the valve can be placed at the end or top of the cylinder. As shown in the figure below, the solenoid reversing valve is often installed at the top of the cylinder. When an electrical signal is sent, the solenoid valve switches, and the output air pressure directly controls the cylinder’s action.

Components of a Valve Cylinder System:

  1. Pipe Fittings
  2. Cylinder
  3. Pneumatic Line
  4. Solenoid Directional Valve
  5. Reversing Valve Base Plate
  6. One-Way Throttle Assembly
  7. Sealing Ring
